One brand of cars today includes the popular name Isuzu. Isuzu Motors Ltd. is a Japanese car, commercial vehicle and heavy truck manufacturing company, headquartered in Tokyo. Isuzu started when Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. cooperatively plan to build automobiles. It was in 1933 that Ishikawajima Automotive Works merges with DAT Automobile Manufacturing and changes its name to Automobile Industries Co., Ltd. A meeting then followed with the Ministry of Trade and Industry results in the renaming of the truck to Isuzu, after the Isuzu River.
